Yes — the glass in double-glazed windows can be changed, but it depends on the situation:
🔹 Replacing just the glass unit (sealed unit replacement):
If the frame is still in good condition, you don’t need to replace the whole window.
The failed or broken sealed glass unit (the two panes with gas/air in between) can be removed and replaced with a new one.
This is common when there’s condensation between the panes, cracks, or damage.
🔹 When you might need a full window replacement:
If the frame is damaged, rotten (in timber), warped, or not energy efficient.
If you want to upgrade to a different type of glazing (e.g., triple glazing, acoustic glass, or low-E energy-saving glass).
👉 So yes, you can change the glass in double glazing without changing the whole frame, but it depends on the condition of the window.
